ICYMI: the UK has taken a landmark step forward for animal protection and committed to phasing out cages for laying hens and farrowing crates for pigs, subject to consultation. This will positively impact over 7 million hens and 150,000 pigs annually.

The @europarl.europa.eu is officially asking the @eucourtofjustice.bsky.social to assess if the EU-Mercosur trade deal complies with EU treaties.

We must modernise EU animal welfare rules so all imported products meet standards equivalent to those in the EU to improve this deal.
