The @europeanleft.bsky.social demands clarity on the @ec.europa.eu's possible provisional application of the EU-Mercosur trade deal.

And so do we.

This deal risks flooding the EU with products from cruel farming systems, undermining sustainable food goals. #StopEUMercosur #StopCruelImports

With millions of farmed animals trapped in cages & Europeans demanding change, the EU must deliver legislative certainty & sound financing to help farmers transition to higher-welfare, extensive farming.

📨 With 20+ orgs, we wrote to Animal Welfare Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi, urging him to take action to halt the unlawful transport of unweaned calves from Ireland to France.

This has affected over 424,000 calves since 2023.

🚨 BIG NEWS 🚨

⚖️ Europe’s top court has set a hearing in the #EndTheCageAge case against the EU Commission for not delivering on promises.

Ending cages is long overdue: they’re cruel, needless, and really bad for nature, health and rural communities. Backed by 1.4M citizens - all eyes on the ECJ ⬇️

It's clear policy-makers need to #BanCages.

The question is: how quickly can it happen?

This new briefing reveals why a concrete ban on cages must be delivered fast, using the example of farrowing crates.

To make sound investments in the coming years, farmers need policy direction: bit.ly/4c8CDjm

Pigs and sows are sentient, intelligent, and social creatures. Yet, the vast majority of them are confined to cramped, barren conditions in factory farms.

This #WorldPigWeek, we demand better from policymakers. We demand to #EndtheCageAge.

🐖 On 5 March, we will represent farmed animals to #EndTheCageAge and show EU leaders the strength of citizen voices.

Last week, @cy2026eu.bsky.social showed its support for further revising the existing animal welfare rules in line with the Vision on Agriculture and Food.

Now the @ec.europa.eu must act.

2026 must deliver an ambitious animal welfare reform — including a ban on cages. #EndtheCageAge

Industrial animal farming is draining our wetlands, turning them into crop & grazing fields.

This is terrible for biodiversity - but we can change it.

This #WorldWetlandsDay, we urge a shift to agroecological practices that are kind to animals & restore precious ecosystems.

Positively, this week the @cy2026eu.bsky.social made it clear that it intends to advance negotiation on this file, for both land and aquatic animals, and support further revisions of the existing animal welfare rules.

Now it’s time for the EU to deliver.

One thing is clear: Europeans want higher #AnimalWelfare during transport.
January 30, 2026 at 9:22 AM
🔴 Fewer than one in four (22%) think that the current protections during transport are adequate
🔴 Nearly two in three (64%) are likely to pay more for products from animals with high welfare standards during transport

According to the latest polling by @eurogroupforanimals.org

🔴 More than four in five (82%) Europeans are concerned for animals during transport
🔴 Over half (57%) consider that long-distance journeys are never acceptable

The CAP should be the basis of a fair, sustainable food system that treats animals, people, & the planet right.

Instead, it makes rich agribusinesses richer, despite known cases of misuse of public funds and animal abuse.

Our message to the 1st AGRIFISH Council under the @cy2026eu.bsky.social presidency: it’s time to ensure “the highest possible level of animal protection” for the billions of sentient beings farmed in the EU.

No fair, competitive & sustainable agriculture without high animal welfare. 🐷🐣🐰

The @europarl.europa.eu is officially asking the @eucourtofjustice.bsky.social to assess if the EU-Mercosur trade deal complies with EU treaties.

We must modernise EU animal welfare rules so all imported products meet standards equivalent to those in the EU to improve this deal.

💸 New @greenpeace.eu report exposes EU's corporate-run farming model.

EU subsidies = wealth for the rich: in some countries, the top 1% takes up to 40% while small-scale farmers go under, EU countryside is industrialised, and nature is destroyed☠️

It can be so different. Check our CAP vision below⤵️
