The government will introduce a new national curriculum from 2028, scrap the EBacc league table measure, make citizenship compulsory in primary schools and force all secondaries to offer triple science GCSE

Great to see the curriculum review recommending citizenship in primary and secondary, a focus on young people’s demands - finance, digital and media literacy, climate, equality, and preparing for votes at 16. And all wrapped up in an oracy framework. Exciting times ahead.

Sadly, I think we've been teaching digital/media literacy all wrong. Instead of focusing on teaching people how to be skeptical and spot manipulation, we should focus on teaching people how these systems work so they can effectively use them to share their messages and promote their values.
