THIS PART! Baby, we fought a whole war to be free of European rule. I do not understand this.
So we've now outsourced the valuation of players for an American soccer league to European media.

Looking forward to mediocre English players making more than their superior American equivalents!

The other irony here?

If you don't yet qualify yet for HIP, you definitely can increase your chances by going to play in England in front of the European media, who then are more likely to include you in their rankings to qualify you!

Only 16 of the 99 payers on the new High Impact Player list aren't American or European. Color me shocked.
99 players qualify for NWSL's new HIP money. Only 16 aren't American or European. I made a list of all the players who are eligible to take advantage of the league's new rule that the NWSLPA seems to hate. (I also made a list of players who don't qualify, but probably, definitely should):
Who is eligible for the NWSL’s new “High Impact Player” rule money? A lot of Europeans, it turns out. @abigailsegel.bsky.social dug into the newly announced criteria to determine who exactly qualifies for the contentious new roster designation—and who doesn’t: equalizersoccer.com/2025/12/23/w...

Get them! Wholeheartedly agree with the NWSLPA's original suggestion of just raising the salary cap by $1M.

I'm just in awe of the WNBA and NWSL's attempts to outstupid each other before the end of the year.
