I'm so sad bug season went by so fast 😔 At least there are still some fall friends sticking around and the few year-rounders. Starting to see globular springtails again which is nice–it's kinda comforting that you can still find springtails and bristletails during otherwise bugless times of the year

I found six camel crickets on the side of my house last night! They're pretty skittish so I tried not to bother them too much, but this one was pretty cool with getting his photo taken. I don't see them very often so it was a real treat. Aren't they adorable? 🐪🦗

I love these little goobers so much! I wish I saw them more. Last year we had large milkweed bugs (Oncopeltus fasciatus) and there were so many of them, both nymphs and imagos. Unfortunately haven't seen any of those this year. Hope it's not too late for more of the small ones to pop up at least 😔

Would you believe this spindly guy is an assassin bug? I picked him up initially thinking he was a phasmid…then I got a closer look at the face and saw the rostrum, and the raptorial forelimbs started to make sense! He's a member of emesinae, a reduviid subfamily I didn't know about before!
