Mostly retired raver. Music is still the answer.
I'm sat under my heated blanket with my hood up stuffing my face with bombay mix whilst listening to the sounds on a running bath on YouTube. 2026 can fuck off a bit longer

Been a while since I've seen as much fbpe derangement as I there are in the replies here.
The US might want it but there's no indication the UK will accept it. Especially when the UK is using leaving the EU to change the law on imports on welfare grounds e.g. banning fois gras imports
The 51st state.

Trump demands that the UK allows American chlorinated chicken and hormone-treated meat into its supermarkets.

UK already agreed to pay more for US drugs, reduced tax on private equity managers, considering cutting tax on tech companies.

'Tacking back control', someone said.
Chlorinated chicken row as US seeks leverage over stalled UK tech pact

I wonder why I don't see much criticism of 80s nostalgia snooze fest Stranger Things in my timeline.

One of the most curious thing amongst the various #avatar haters on this site, is that they are ascribing cultural worth based on the number of memes generated 😬

Gorgeous production of A Christmas Carol at the Leeds playhouse. With the action still in a historic setting but in Leeds instead of London. Scrooge was fantastic with an excellent cast. The ghost of Christmas future was incredible too

Annual trip taking the children to the Christmas production at West Yorkshire playhouse. A Christmas Carol this year.
It also serves as a reminder that whilst I'm pretty bloody middle class these days, I'm not as middle class as most of the patrons here

I'm not gonna die on the hill of Avatar but most of the criticisms about those movies are lazy and don't hold up to much scrutiny. Also, it's snobby to behave like something is that popular on accident or because audiences are stupid--not a critique I'd levy against Todd in most cases, to be clear.

A lack of understanding of how the media manipulates statistics will never not be frustrating.
A quick google informs me that after this surge, Australia provides about 4% of our beef imports, and our beef imports are about 25% of our consumption. So this headline is basically saying “anger as 0.6% becomes 1% of total” and I’m not sure that’s particularly justifiable

Wild take that Avatar appeals to people who like Marines i.e conservatives. Given its entirely anti colonial anti military complex, pro environmental message.
Always enjoy a bit of sneering at people who like things you don't though
blah blah etc but the cultural 'impact' of avatar is huge - all the fucking tbs normie dads and their meathead sons and beaten wives and daughters. it's fucking entertainment paste for the stupid class, spectacle without art, $$ without morals, cinema for dumb cops and nurses who take smokebreaks

Easy to blame influencers, very much a Bête noire right now, but this has also come about from much more UK based holidays post COVID. And that's not a bad thing
