It’s another month of good news for renters in BC! Rents are continuing to come down in our province, and we are leading the way in the whole country. #bcpoli #homesforpeople

Rewind to last week in the legislature ⏮️ and it was a BUSY one.

Housing announcements in Vancouver, Sechelt, Whistler &Fruitvale.

Legislation moved forward, including lowering barriers to making child care available in schools and making it easier to build small-scale multi-unit housing.

With the days getting colder and shorter, indoor spaces are life-saving for our neighbours who need a place to get inside from the cold, have a place to sleep, and get hot meals and access to support services. #bcpoli

That’s a wrap on the First Nations Leadership Gathering! Feeling grateful and energized meeting with dozens of Nations from across BC to talk about the work we’re doing together on housing and reconciliation.

Now I’m looking forward to getting to work on all that we discussed. #bcpoli #FNLG2025

Today, the BC Government and Coastal First Nations signed the North Coast Protection Declaration, urging the federal government to stand firm in upholding the tanker ban.

BC’s coast is stunning and sacred, it is teeming with life, culture and history.

It’s a dark and spooky night out there. Look out for the ghouls and ghosts and demon hunters everywhere!

Be safe, have fun….and let’s go #BlueJays!

Happy Halloween! 🎃⚾️

We’re turning the page on Library Month 📖 but don’t judge a book by its cover…because we love libraries all year long!

I love supporting and celebrating all of the amazing work that libraries do to serve communities across BC, as both the Minister responsible for literacy programs… /1

Powerful op-ed about #TinyHomes in #Penticton:

“…part of the Heart and Hearth Program, a thoughtful, community-based plan from BC Housing and the Province that includes employment and life-skill development, mental health services, and access to treatment.”

Tiny homes, a mighty difference
There’s a lot of talk around town lately about the tiny homes project proposed for 616 Okanagan Avenue East. As a longtime Wiltse School parent, my social feeds are full

Complex-care housing is making a real difference for residents like J.T.

The supports that complex-care housing provides can help people establish stability, safety, build connections and break the cycle of homelessness.

In contrast to the horrible rental news out of Ontario this week, I have a government in my current province who are actively trying to make homes more accessible and affordable. 💞Thank you.
Here to start off your Monday with a wrap-up of what happened last week, during the second week of the fall sitting of the Legislative Assembly! This is just a small peek into the work our government is doing to make life better for all British Columbians, and we’ll be back for week 3. #bcpoli

I’ve let Mayor Sim know that we won’t be calling Park Board legislation (Bill 26) for second reading this Fall.

The City of Vancouver has more work to do clarifying their intended direction, including working with Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

So happy to break ground at Douglas/Caledonia in Victoria on more than 500 new homes!

With a community plaza, retail, and a childcare centre for 44 kids, this will be a wonderful home for Victoria families.

More good work to do.

Groundbreaking of 500 homes at a range of rental prices including BC housing affordable homes, plus a major grocery store. This mixed use project will be transformative for the North end of the core.
