One great era ends, and another begins. After seven years, I'm leaving IndieWire to take on a role as head of digital engagement at the Tampa Bay Times, a publication I grew up with and that first put me on the path to journalism. I start January 5.

This is massive. Davie became Director General after years as CEO of BBC Studios when I was there — was critical to diversifying the BBC’s revenue streams and expanding its commercial efforts.
Bulletin: BBC director general Tim Davie and BBC News CEO Deborah Turness are resigning "following criticism that a BBC Panorama documentary misled viewers by editing a speech by US President Donald Trump."

Look who visited @indiewire.com’s “St. Pete bureau”! Our own Marcus Jones! He was in town for a few days visiting family, and meeting with me was a fun bonus. Took him to the Birchwood Canopy and the Don CeSar.

The White House movie theater was created in 1942. JFK watched "From Russia with Love" there two days before his assassination. Jimmy Carter watched "Apocalypse Now" with Coppola there even before its Cannes premiere. Now it is no more. For @indiewire.com.

A special place. That room right above the arch was my freshman dorm room at Northwestern. Visited on this trip as part of my annual meetings being on the ⁦‪School of Communication’s board of advisors.

20 years have passed, and 20 students after me have lived there. Wishing them the best.

Wrote this for @indiewire.com yesterday:

When you picture Diane Keaton, the first image that comes to mind is probably her wearing a broad black hat, vest, and tie as the title character in “Annie Hall.” It was a look she often replicated in real life.

Glimpsed outside on the street lamp outside my house: an osprey!

In the car when I took this… as I pulled forward he flew off. Must have been a six-foot wingspan, and a dead rodent was in his talons.

Some may ask, “Well, didn’t Disney fire Roseanne and Gina Carano as well?” Separately, I’d mention Disney ending working with anti-Trump author Chuck Wendig as well.

Jane Fonda gave @indiewire.com a statement about Redford: “It hit me hard this morning when I read that Bob was gone. I can’t stop crying. He meant a lot to me and was a beautiful person in every way. He stood for an America we have to keep fighting for.”

Robert Redford. Struggling to think of an actor who gave more performances that stir my soul. And by creating Sundance, he leaves an infrastructure and a model for supporting artist-led filmmaking that's needed now more than ever. Quite a legacy.

Before tonight, Seth Rogen had been nominated for five #Emmys in previous years and never won. Now he's won three just tonight (Best Actor, Best Directing, and Best Writing in a Comedy), with a possible Best Comedy Series win still to come.

What a privilege to be able to exclusively debut the first image of Martin Scorsese's character in "In the Hand of Dante" for @indiewire.com. Used this as an opportunity to wax rhapsodic a bit about his acting in general.

They say Gen-Z doesn't care about movie theaters. Well, she's proving them wrong.

The Beach Theatre is personally meaningful in my life as well — it's where I saw my first-ever subtitled foreign-language movie when I was 10. So happy it lives again.
