After shooting weddings for 15 years I find myself in my mid-40's and wondering if there's a career in archaeology/heritage I can carve out for myself. If any archaeologists or archaeological society have any digs, projects or workshops going on this summer that they'd like photographing, shout up!

A few of my photos from a fab time at Derbyshire Archaeology Day 2026 in Chesterfield. Full of fantastic talks, great archaeology chats between speakers, and the infamous Colin Merrony book stall! January 2027 seems a long way off! Maybe some sort of Summer heritage social is in order? #archaeology

Had a fab but chilly day yesterday with Mathew Morris of University of Leicester Archaeological Services learning all about how to run a community test pit project. Looking forward to seeing how this project in Barrow-upon-Trent evolves!

I'd never heard of Richard Long before this evening, but a friend of mine introduced him to me via this work of his from the 60's. Being partial to spending time walking across the landscape, this piece of work really fascinates me!

Responses: Richard Long’s A Line Made By Walking (1967).
Like the work of sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, Richard Long’s work immediately asks an intriguing question: which part of the work is the official segment of “art”?  Is it the very p…

I vowed never to rewatch Game of Thrones after the final season in 2019. I remember feeling so cheated by the ending. For some reason, we decided to rewatch it at the end of 2025. All 8 seasons, back-to-back. And you know what? The ending is fine. #TV

It's a small step, but I'm still really chuffed to get this! I'm not sure whether further education is the way into archaeology for me (my bank account, age, and parenting duties make that route feel out of reach), but I really enjoyed this course! #archaeology

First outing with the drone today. It's felt like we've had two months of non-stop rain, so it was nice to get a sunny morning. It'll be mostly photogrammetry that I'll be using it for, but for a first flight, just somewhere local and some nice fields did the trick. #Derbyshire

Finally blogging some of the digs I photographed this year. It was great to get my first taste of fieldwork here. A big thanks to Andy, Sean, & David of @mercianarch.bsky.social for all their support & advice! And if you have a 2026 dig you'd like photographing, drop me a message! #archaeology 📷

The Excavation of Hob's Barrow is currently 50% off on GOG!

A bargain opportunity to play our folk horror adventure game inspired by movies such as The Wicker Man & the works of M.R. James, with a little pinch of Twin Peaks and Lovecraft.

Not had much time to get stuck in to the landscape archaeology books I amassed over the summer, but finally got around to this little beauty! Reading these books, I get such a sense of finding my people! 😊
