I'm very happy that I do not know, and most likely will never know, the politics or worldview of the guy who made Get Fuzzy.

Just started "auntie genuinely reaches flow state with this hyperfocus jazz mix" and I am already entranced by the music / how she's playing around with the video elements.

Thank you for leading me to this new rabbit hole!

Yeah they really pivoted hard to being a publication of record and instantly respected it. Pretty sure it was through them that I discovered the writings/reporting of Kim Kelly. Anybody who's unaware of how much they accomplished hasn't been paying attention for like...ten years now.

The fascism is only getting more intense, but they can't even be bothered to give us bread and circuses anymore. Nobody can afford the (ultra-processed) bread, and the circuses are being reduced to crappy shows with AI-augmented scripts.

They're goading us into revolution & don't even know it.

I remember seeing this in theaters. Truly insane, I had no choice but to respect it.

Attn: fellow writers/artists, cool new submission call!
Speaking of my #zine, submissions are now OPEN for the 4th installment, "Ghosts." Gimme spooky stories, poetry, prose (up to 1K), comics, mixed media--bonus points if it ties into the three title N's (Neuroses, Nostalgia, and/or New York).

Modern masculinity is suffering from an acute lack of Alan Alda type guys. We need more Alan Alda's in the mix now! I swear that will at least fix a couple of things going on here.
January 13, 2026 at 3:32 AM
This is just reminding me that, on the whole, we need more Alan Alda-type dudes out there.
January 13, 2026 at 3:27 AM
Figured that might be the case, but thought I'd loop you in anyway because A.) you never know and B.) you're just always a fun presence to have in toon-related discussions.

I notice that in the early/mid 2010s they kept dropping references to Quest Labs in Scooby Doo media (Mystery Incorporated/Scooby Doo meets KISS/etc).

Were they priming the pump for a Scooby Doo/Jonny Quest crossover that never happened?

Hey stumbling across this post helped me feel a little better today, so thanks for putting it out there.

I try not to be pithy about other people’s film opinions, but if you genuinely think EDDINGTON was a “centrist film“, I’m quietly disregarding you and moving on.

More people need to know about Sonny Sharrock! A truly brilliant musician.

In honor of its #Shudder debut, check out my review of A DESERT that I wrote last year. A quality piece of neo noir baking under the desert sun!

Another thing I unfortunately “gotta hand to him” is that he was, by all accounts, very supportive of the Adult Swim Streams [in no small part because he considered it his baby].

The streams were one of [as]‘s boldest experiments and i still miss them.

This song turned ten this past summer, and I am still processing my feelings about that.

Something about that scene of Keitel breaking down in the church always gets to me.

If you haven't already check out Ms. 45, King Of New York, The Funeral, The Addiction. New Rose Hotel is his criminally underrated take on cyberpunk, a noir flick that seems to predict the isolated and screen-centered future were were heading towards.

Couldn't agree more. One of my favorite films period.
January 6, 2026 at 12:31 AM
Ferrara really hit the ground running with that one!
January 6, 2026 at 12:03 AM
Oh I 100% agree, just figuring that's the realistic answer behind it. But I agree with Andy's point, overall it feels like they could be doing more but just... aren't right now.

Sadly I feel like its also a byproduct of shifting/shrinking audiences. We're comparing bumps and aesthetics from a network that was trying stuff out at the height of its medium and was aiming at a young audience, MeTV Toons seems to be fine with settling for "nostalgia" and nothing else.
