Watching RETURN OF THE FLY for the first time.

I now understand why the lyrics to the Misfits’ song about this film are just a repetition of the title and names of actors in it.

If one were looking to get into the works of S.A. Cosby, what’s the best book to start with?

Ok, last time I mentioned wanting to write a Space Ghost comic, the writer behind the current Dynamite series told me off, so Im going to re-adjust my aim here:

I want to write A Johnny Quest comic, but one specifically working off the 90s "Real Adventures" series.

Going to start limiting my YouTube intake to music and movies/tv shows I can't find anywhere else. Video essays are losing their luster for me.

Been really getting into LOAD-era Metallica recently. Make of that what you will. Good music to write to.

Today would have been George Lowe’s 68th birthday, so I’m going to marathon some episodes and start learning how to play SGC2C theme song on guitar today in his honor.

I’m like 90% certain Glenn Danzig would loathe me if I ever met him.

As a huge Metallica fan, I feel like I would bewilder/annoy James Hetfield.

That said, I think Kirk & I would get along famously. We would talk horror movies until our mutual awkwardness compelled us to quietly call it a day.
I asked this before over at The Old Place and the answers delighted me. So again:

Who is an artist you admire who you suspect would not like you if they met you personally?

I think Peter Dinklage is fantastic. I would absolutely get on his last nerve. He'd be looking for the door while we spoke.

Finished reading @spiritbored.bsky.social ‘s “Here Lies A Vengeful Bitch” and damn, what a yarn!

A great story full of piss & vinegar, horror & sorrow, & righteous fury. Annie was a great protagonist, equal parts endearing and irksome, and by the end I was sad to say goodbye to her.

I know this is going to make me sound old and cranky, but here I go:

Any time I hear someone refer to a VCR as a “VHS Player” or a turntable as a “vinyl player,” I want to pull my face off like the bathroom mirror scene in poltergeist.

My biggest hope for Mamdami’s win is that he’s able to successfully turn enough of his platform into policy that it will eventually trickle up into Westchester.

Rolling into November without a proper celebration of Halloween feels wrong on an existential level. I just want to the rest of the year to vanish.

Happy “Scavenging through every Spirit Halloween and Spooky Town For Discount Deals” Day to those who celebrate.

Bad news: my wife got sick and we’ve spent large chunks the last two days in the ER, destroying all of our 2nd anniversary/Halloween plans.

Good news: we’re back home, she’s starting to feel better, and I am already plotting to make sure our third wedding anniversary/Halloween 2026 is truly epic.

The best scene in this whole movie is when Busta yells at Michael Myers for being a dumbass and just walks away, and Michael just stands there taking it because no one’s ever talked to him like that before.

The Hong Kong Horror collection on the Criterion Channel has really been making this last month of October extra fun and spooky. I need to get these Mr. Vampire movies on disc.
