$20,000,000,000 of debt financing is a shockingly large number to have to service, while also transitioning from a public to private organization and all the implications that has on the people that work in it.

We've obviously never seen anything like this at this scale in the industry before.
It’s official: EA is going private.

The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.

Unsurprising to see union workers being heroes, or being made examples of.

It seems unlikely that these charges could stick in front of a CA judge or any jury on earth, and there are huge protests for his release, I'm not sure that this is the effective "example" the fascists are hoping for
SEIU California President David Huerta has apparently been charged with a federal crime--conspiracy to impede an officer. This is a felony that carries a sentence of six years in federal prison.

That's nearly twice as long as the Twitch audience took, which is not something you want to gauge intelligence against.
Imagine outsourcing all your thinking to a guy who still only has two Pokémon badges after 80 hours of gameplay.

Bottom line:
This isn’t budget policy, it’s a power grab. It strips judges of their ability to enforce the law and gives government officials a green light to ignore court orders. It’s authoritarian by design and it’s buried in the fine print.

This is what an authoritarian regime would do. Hidden deep in Trump’s 1,100-page bill that passed the House today is a provision that would block federal courts from enforcing contempt charges against government officials who violate court orders.

The people who approved the sale of Polygon to Valnet, knowing what would happen to both its employees and the quality of its work, are sociopaths who deserve to be labeled, treated, and shunned as such. Sick behavior.

What happened with Polygon today is so fucked. Vox Media has made some atrocious decisions in my six years here but this is really something else. And to do this in the middle of us bargaining a new union contract, where they scold us for asking for better protections, is just unconscionable.
