Our leaders talk about immigration but never its causes

Causes of migration

1. Never-ending wars sponsored by the West
2. Climate Change caused largely by the West
3. 100s of years of colonial & post colonial capitalist impoverishment of the Global South by the West

Deal with the causes

Farage and Zia Yusuf are going to announce tomorrow that a Reform government will strip millions of EU nationals of benefits, more than double the cost of the NHS surcharge and cut foreign aid spending by more than 70%, The Times reports.

More Trumpian blood and soil nonsense.

At risk of asking a question I already know the answer to, has the UK government provided any actual evidence or proof that immigration (illegal or otherwise) is actually harmful for the country?

Cruel. Callous. Cowardly.

The public are seeing this Labour government for exactly who they are.

We all have a responsibility to make them pay at the ballot box.

Reject the hate. Reject them.

This is not who we are. Let's make hope normal again.

Has he cut & run? Or is this some 3-D chess-type voodoo? Thoughts please.

Empire with @davidolusoga.bsky.social is a fascinating series & a must watch. Only disappointment is that it was only 3 episodes not 4 where more on the British rule across the Middle East could’ve been covered. Maybe too contentious? Anyway, riveting & an uncomfortable level of pomposity on show.

Do your homework in order to ask good questions 👇
The reasons appeals are needed is because the Home Office initial decision process, by its own admission, is so poor. What Mahmood is saying is that she will prevent people who absolutely need asylum in the UK from getting it. Right to appeals are essential.

How generous! 🤮
Perhaps Britain should pay the money they extracted from many countries where refugees come from.
So we probably won't take your wedding rings from you, but we might place you into indentured servitude
Watching the Mahmood announcement and debate. Tory backbencher (Karen Bradley) suggests putting refugees into debt and making them repay during the rest of their lives. Mahmood says she’ll think about it.
