Seems like the right day, as an Italian Chicagoan, to rehash the best idea i've ever had for the city... Replace the columbus statue in grant park with the statue of an italian beef sandwich. Unlike, columbus, the italian beef actually tells a great story of the italian contribution to chicago...

Hyper local weird sign... I cannot walk past this intersection (st claire & ohio) without wondering how the soldier field sign got here. Sure, you can turn down fairbanks and eventually make it there, but there aren't any other signs on ohio telling you how to get to soldier field.

No one believes less in the year-round use of the parks less than the chicago park district. 500+ people at Promontory Point yesterday enjoying unmatched skyline views and campfires, a truly unique Chicago offering... and not an open public bathroom within miles.
