A two-month-old has died from whooping cough in Queensland amid the state's worst epidemic in years. Vaccination rates have dipped since 2020 across Australia.

My heart goes out to the parents and family. How tragic.

Vaccines save lives.

There is a fairly modest increased risk of depression associated with hormonal birth control. It's not clear whether this is causal (i.e. the pill causes depression), or whether it's just a spurious association.

Something that definitely causes depression? Pregnancy. Especially unwanted pregnancy.

Medical error is not the third leading cause of death.

Agreed. I've said publicly that I think that COVID-19 is now similar in terms of population burden to influenza.

People take this to mean that I think it's not an issue at all. Quite the opposite! Having influenza x2 is pretty shit and a big problem for us moving forward.
Just to reiterate:

“It’s just the flu” is something that no serious scientist or person in healthcare would ever say. Influenza is brutal and can kill people of any age. It’s awful. You don’t want it. Get your #flushot

"The flu sucks" is a perfectly good reason to get a flu shot.

(Not going to the hospital is nice too.)
