Mad Dog Vachon is still my spirit animal
11/09/98 Moma Dance

Whether they were intending it, or it was just organic, they were teasing it all weekend. You tell me when they launch it towards the end of night 3. It's not the best version, but it is very intentional, so pretty interesting.

Can someone who knows gear tell me what the effect is that Billy uses about 10:13 that makes his guitar "sound backward"? Trey still uses it occasionally, but was heavy into it in 99, and it was sick. I bet Billy saw that Memphis show, now that I think about it.

This is some really nice Panic. JoJo figures out the Superstition link to Arleen, and works it out, with Houser on top.

The treat my 70lb linebacker of a dog (her name is Gwen) drools most for is a spoonful of full fat Greek yogurt smeared in her bowl.

@aridublion.bsky.social After your show, I can tune into this. Community radio is the best.
Tonight is night 4 of funktoberfest 2025!

I’ve been leaning boogie and disco the past three nights, so tonight will lean a bit more in the direction of deep and classic funk cuts.

That is midnight CST on WORT 89.9 FM Madison or www.wortfm.org.

Somehow, I had never heard the album Excalibur by Tom Fogerty. I had listened to the Jerry Band show where he guests, but never got around to listening to this album. The personnel is Fogerty, Jerry, Merl Saunders, Bill Vitt, John Kahn.

Did I miss something? I was not grabbed by anything.

I gave these boys from Welt sleeping quarters last night, and made them frozen pizzas. I'm old hardcore like that.

Made Pasta alla Norma for the first time tonight because of gifted eggplants, and it turned out fantastic. Riding the high as my house still smells delicious.

Phish has never more resembled the Space portion of a Grateful Dead show than the second half of Beneath a Sea of Stars. That was a kickass listen.

IMHO, Grateful Dead's "Feel Like a Stranger" and Phish's "Punch You in the Eye" are the gold standard of opening songs, like Rickey Henderson leading off. Curious if you have similar feelings about other songs, regardless of genre.

It's obvious they are just getting started, but all the JJ McCarthy led Vikings do is win. I hope it gets obnoxious.

You really don't hear Music Box Dancer everywhere like you did when I was a kid.

Reposting to #photography because I think this capture deserves more appreciation. The glare on the top is from taking a phone picture in my mom's house.
You want to see something immaculately cool? This is a picture of my dad at a rock concert in the early 70s. The photo was taken by Jim Brandenburg, legendary nature photographer and local hero. Jim was a staff photographer at a local paper, friends with my dad, this print hangs at my mom's home.

So you like yacht rock, but it's the same old playlists? I hear you, and so do these folks. They should be worldwide heroes, everyone can tap their toes and nod their head gently to this.

I started watching this movie on a lark, from a thread about actors that disappeared, and Khrystyne Haje came up. She was Simone on Head of the Class. Anyway, this was so much better than expected, there's an actual sci-fi moral question examined. Solid B movie.

There is one crucial step that puts King Gizzard firmly on the Dethklok trajectory, but things are still hazy. Something about an event in Europe that raises a long dormant entity. But really, only one step.

Listening back to this tonight, and it reminds me of the admittedly pedantic and personal argument I have with reporting Phish songs as being jammed out, when no, they went out into space. This song is recognizably Gin the whole time, and was a pleasure to experience.

Hazy, midwest, summertime conditions, where you look back at the crowd and everything looks like it is moving in slow motion, are prime for Reba.

The Facebook algorithm decided I needed to see an ad for the Lederhosen Outlet Factory. I do not know which life choices led me to this dark place.
