Like they're so similar that I'm wondering if there's some kind of inverse morality thing that's going to happen. While Severian got arguably better (a lot less rapey anyway) as the books went on I have a feeling Sir Able is gonna get a lot worse (hopefully not rapey)

Sir Able really does feel a lot like a good universe Severian so far? Both just sword guys faking it til they make it with their own senses of honor except Severian's is obviously informed by being a torturer while Able so far seems to be a genuinely good dude.

David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. “Lynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

This never has worked - not once. Once you concede the the far right's framing on immigration, you're dead, because you can never serve up as remedies as vile or extreme as they can, but you're also saying they have the right idea. And no one will vote for that dead dog in the middle of the road.
Democrats' openness to supporting the Laken Riley Act comes as the party is recalibrating on immigration, after getting pummeled on the issue in recent years. Exit polls show it helped Trump beat Harris in 2024.
