NEW PAPER! And what a challenging one. It has taught us a lot about how we can understand the impacts of pressures on insects, and I hope we can continue to add to it into the future. Another great output from the @glitrs.bsky.social GLiTRS project team 🌍 🐝 🐜 🦋 🐞
New paper! Today introducing a 'multi-threat meta-analytic database for understanding insect biodiversity change', an output from the @glitrs.bsky.social project (see glitrs.ceh.ac.uk).

What a week! We had the 2nd annual meeting of @insectai.bsky.social in Tirana, Albania 🇦🇱 Along with Jamie Alison, we led a workshop on building a toolbox full of tools to help researchers navigate the complexities of both traditional and computer vision-based insect monitoring data. All the fun! 📸🦋🐝

I've had a brilliant few days in Sweden discussing land use and climate change interactions and their impacts on biodiversity. So fortunate to work alongside such creative and knowledgeable people, and made even better by the beautiful surroundings.

I'd also like to say a huge thanks to @tim-bird.bsky.social for producing a stunning piece of art to accompany the research. I've been a fan of Tim's graphic novels for many years now, so it was amazing to collaborate with him on this illustration! I love it so much.

🦋🪲🪰 Insects account for up to 90% of all animal species on the planet, and are vital for 35% of global food production, however research on their biodiversity is lacking (and underfunded) 🧵1/6
