I just read an article about reading that actually explains why it was so difficult for my sibling to learn to read (and enjoy it - something that occurred somewhere in her late 20s) whereas I was an absolutely voracious reader. We are only 4 years apart in age.

I don’t believe it’s been 3 years. It does not feel like you’ve been gone that long. I still think about you every day and find myself wishing you were here for me to cuddle and take cat naps with. You’d be able to get Harley to understand that Stella isn’t an enemy. I miss you Henry. #anniversary

Another stellar observation that I whole heartedly agree with.
As someone that has been examining how I define my self worth and how the world around me affects (or doesn’t) that definition and perception, it took me years to untangle aspects that were ingrained by society yet didn’t serve me.

27. I want someone secure enough in themselves that they are not going to feel insecure if I am not obsessed with them more than anything else. (The Prof was VERY offended by it.) Hell, I want them to prefer not being a source of self worth to me. I want them to have their own passions and loves.

Note to self : pay more attention to what autocorrect/autofill actually types so you don’t have to send a correction follow-up that makes you feel momentarily like an idiot and you end up dwelling on it which makes it feel a hundred times worse.

I really really really dislike it when cat parents (owners) let their cats wander outdoors unsupervised. Especially without visible identification tags. This one looked like it had a collar. Turns out it’s a fashion bow collar with a bell and bat for Halloween…

I have a desire to work in the studio. It’s currently Stella’s room which wouldn’t be an issue really except for the fact that the Murphy bed is down (Matt stayed in the studio with her at night the first 3 days she was here) and it’s her current safe space. Harley needs to get over herself…

What happens when you casually mention that you are translating a pattern from knitting to crochet and share an image of the knitted gloves? In this instance I accepted a commission to make a pair. (Not something I do often anymore.)

I wish the day we voted were treated like similar to a “mandatory holiday”. You aren’t required to vote (it’s a right you have to practice) but you are given the opportunity to exercise that right without having to worry about taking time off/finding the time.

You know how many corporations are now pushing ads into every nook and cranny they can possibly find digitally, and if you “pay for the privilege” to not have ads they still sneak them in… pretty much has me going analog and very very selective about how I engage with everything in digital spaces.

Today is the last day for early voting in Texas. There are 17 propositions to amend the Texas Constitution on the Texas ballot. Collin County, the county I live in, returned to using paper ballots that you mark with pen. According to a search two other counties did as well.

Progress on the translation from knit to crochet so far. Decided the cuff ribbing and the initial stitch pattern for the gloves. Next is to decide if I want to add any shaping (tapering) of the arm which is not a feature of the knitted version. #crochet #patterndesign #looseendingsstudio

Sorta love the fact that my SIL reached out to ask for advice/suggestions about crochet patterns for fingerless gloves and wanted to check if I had any patterns for purchase that would fit what she needed. And we end up texting for over an hour about how to read pattern requirements and yarn labels.
