It's December 1st, which means that throughout the entire month you should reserve 5-10 minutes every day to read a fantastic article about HTML. ❤️‍🔥

It’s pretty incredible how Meetup.com… killed meetups and communities.

Their pricing is unsustainable for non-US & free meetups. As an attendee who’s not paying, you can’t message people or see who is attending.
So everything is moving to closed WhatsApp groups, Slack, etc. Muh.

And I'm sitting down to write Web Weekly which will hit all the inboxes tmrw.

You know what would be really useful on LinkedIn? The ability to search for people who are… looking for work.

But yeah, that’s not really their core thing.

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

One of the best things I ever found out about the lunar missions is the fact that we have a transcript from Apollo 10 where the astronauts argue about who made the loose turds floating around the command module.

What'd I miss?

components know:
- user stuff
- device stuff
- app stuff
- design stuff
- what stuff is in them
- what stuff they're inside
- etc

It's amazing how much a component can know on the web, and I'm going to try and list it all out. Help me 🤓

More than *anything* the people who actually know how technology works, who actually build things, wish that people would treat LLMs like every other technology, and be normal about them. Don't build a religion about them, don't force them on people, don't ignore the problems. Just be normal.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵
