Devastating news about shayy. If you are a victim and you aren't sure if what happened to you was "really" assault, thats a totally normal thing to feel, the situation was constructed by them to make you feel that way, and it absolutely was real assault.

the mods of these communities are volunteers in their 20s who had personal friendships with Shayy, not trained PR professionals detached from the situation. Whatever is going on there's no way its not intendely stressful on everyone involved. So can we cut some slack for imperfect responses?

🧵I think that people actually genuinely faking did are extremely rare. DID is a part of a spectrum of dissociative disorders that range from PTSD on the mild end through CPTSD, BPD, and OSDD to DID on the far end, and they can be very muddled and complex and hard to tease out exactly where you fall

Hey so it turns out that spending hours a day reading transphobic forums when you're a young trans kid, even if you're doing so "ironically" to "make fun of thr bigots" tends to give you you deep-seated internalized transphobia that pops up years later as an inexplicable yet pervasive self-hatred.
