"Without love, where would you be now." Learning myself more at a somewhat advanced age. Film nerd, progressive, enlightened. Soft drinks occasionally with cane sugar. Pretty good cook. I enjoy trying.
My bank told me my computer is too old and not fast enough to pay my bills online. At least, I found out just before #BlackFriday.

Too often in #CanadianContent, films that don't seem Canadian count as Canadian where obvious films aren't counted as Canadian. The CRTC took some baby steps. Curious if that will make much of an impact. #CanadianFilm #CanadianTV

CRTC redefines Canadian content but the end result is far from clear
Changing the definition of Canadian content might be like climate change. Everyone agrees something must be done but how to do so is the concern. We want a world where Women Talking, John Candy: I …

The A1C is technically higher than ideal. Better, though. My doctor, not easy to please, said "take the win." I shall.

2025 WIFF Canadian films in review
Many years back, summing up the Canadian films at the Windsor International Film Festival was an easy task. Few and far between. This year, there were so many that we couldn’t get to seeing. …

Seeing the price of #Ghirardelli dark chocolate double overnight. $7 for a bar, up from about $3.50. A treat that I can't justify at the new price.

Saskatchewan really loves the #CFL. The Roughriders won their first #GreyCup in 12 years over Montréal. The last pure Grey Cup before they gut the league with radical rules changes.

Wanting to see a film at #AMC starting on Friday but can't find a showtime. They try so hard to get me not to watch in a theatre. Then they complain people don't go out to movies.

#CanadianTV should have more fine arts programming. Better newscasts, too. Still need sitcoms and dramas, especially in English Canada.

Canadian TV notebook: What Canadian television should be
Canadaland touches briefly on the disastrous CBC plan to appeal to those who don’t like the CBC. It’s so bad that it isn’t worth going after in the grand scheme. The CBC can be more wonderful if pe…

#Canada really is a beautiful country. Your dollar goes rather far, or euro or pound or kroner. All 4 seasons: mountains or really flat.
This summer, Canada’s tourism sector did more business than ever before — by welcoming the world and being our own best customer.

More good news: we just renewed the Canada Strong Pass for the holidays and summer 2026 — so it’s more affordable to explore our incredible country.

We don’t normally review a limited series as a film review. Reasons why The Night Logan Woke Up got an exception: this is just a really long film and Xavier Dolan being Xavier Dolan. The Deat…

If you are an American and able to vote today, you should get your tail to the voting booth. May seem like democracy is gone in the U.S. but you still have to try to make a difference. Those in power don't want you to vote.
For millions of Americans, today will bring the chance to be heard.

If there's an election where you live, then you get to send a message on the policies and leadership you believe in - and begin changing the trajectory of this country.

Americans claim to be patriotic. Canadians show it by wearing poppies. Canada also fought a lot more of WWI and WWII than the Americans did.
I ran into Peter Rivest from the Haileybury legion at the North Cobalt Flea Market.
Make sure you buy a poppy to support our veterans. This is the week that we remember the huge cost that Canadians paid in the fight for democracy.
Remembering this sacrifice matters now more than ever.
