Retired, but not dead yet. Like board games, photography, stained glass, glass mosaics, gardening, quilting and traveling. Love my kids, cats, science, fairness, diversity and democracy.
Are we having fun yet with this clown playing yo-yo with our retirement savings?

And the SAVE act passes the house (with some democratic support??)

Great. Let’s punish women for taking their husband’s last name.

What a country. Grump.

Maybe next time let’s not elect someone who runs because they’re trying to not go to jail?

Starting on Mar 13, Devils Tower National Monument will be open only from 7 am to 5 pm. It used to be open 24/7. This is due to the cuts to the NP services.

Here's a shot I took back in 2019 of the Milky Way above Devils Tower. This type of shot will no longer be possible without risking a fine.

The FBI is preparing to disband a team of specialists charged with combating foreign threats to US elections (per CNN).

Every day, another astonishingly bad decision. WTF.

I tried saying 'Calgon, take me away' to some family members the other day - nobody got the reference.

I am old.

When you stub one of your toes so bad it still hurts to walk on the next day. Dang, my coffee table is SOLID.

Woof.

I try to be reasonable about doing a ‘follow back’ if someone follows me. I always check their feed first. But if I follow someone back and they almost instantly DM me, that’s an instant block. Just got a DM ‘hello beautiful!’ after a follow back. F that.

Just a reminder that in 2019, RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine misinformation campaign helped cause a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed 83 people, mostly kids.

Do you really want him to lead the Department of Health and Human Services?

Thankful I live in Minnesota. Hope it catches on in other states.
Who here agrees?

I think part of my strategy to get through the next few years is judicious use of the ‘mute’ button. I do not want to see him, or hear him, pretty much ever again. I feel this is an achievable goal. I can be informed, without subjecting myself to that. We all know who I’m talking about.

My adult son, who purchased his own townhouse earlier this year, still comes and stays over at my house most weekends. It’s because of the cat. :). He thought I made a mistake when I adopted her from the rescue when she was 14 years old. Now they are inseparable when they are together.

Imagine if all democrats talked like and had the strength of @aoc.bsky.social
"If a woman doesn't look woman enough to a Republican, they want to be able to inspect your genitals to use a bathroom? It's disgusting.

Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC

One thing I've noticed about myself post-election, is that when I'm out and about and someone asks me how I am, instead of just automatically saying 'good!', I just say 'One day at a time.'

I am just not capable of the fake societal fluff right now.

Needed a bit of zen in my life this evening. A throw back to Feb 6, 2021, Grand Marais, MN. It was a scary time. Covid-19 was rampant and it was before my first vaccine shot. So grateful to have had many since then.

Today, I learned about #feeds on BlueSky, washed dishes, did laundry, cleaned up 2 separate instances of cat vomit, and it was a better day. Working on reprogramming how I spend my time. I used to spend too much time trying to stay informed. It’s just too much right now.

I think a lot of men do not understand this: what if there was medical science available to save your life and you just weren't allowed to have it, like no amount of money could buy it? Bc that's what the abortion ban is to women. We feel it in our core, no matter our pregnancy status or intention.
Yes & I'll add: A lot of people (incl many, many women) know someone who has NEARLY DIED while pregnant/giving birth. Or who *has* died/faced serious conseq. All this shit about lack of autonomy over our bodies & threats to health/survival -- it's *not* theoretical to huge chunks of the population.
I also find it interesting that older women are breaking so hard left, too. Many of them are older than Roe (or were coming of age around then) so they actually saw/lived the implications too many women are facing now... and understand how horrific it was.
