The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has just revealed that federal officials have “reversed course,” and the investigation into the killing of a Minneapolis woman by an ICE agent will be conducted by the FBI without assistance from the BCA.
FBI pushes Minnesota investigators aside in ICE shooting probe
The BCA added that this takeover of the investigation means that it will “no longer have access to the case materials, scene evidence or investigative interviews necessary to complete a thorough and independent investigation.”

Today we saw the devastating and predictable consequences of the Trump administration encouraging reckless, heavily armed agents in our communities to commit horrifying abuses.

Congress must rein in ICE before what happened in Minneapolis today happens again.

Trump is weak at home, and he can be stopped – so long as the domestic political logic of foreign intervention is recognized and turned against him. This act of war is about regime change in the United States. It only succeeds if Americans allow it to do so.

I’m grateful to be part of a community that provides genomics research opportunities to undergrads at the national scale. These opportunities can help students make new connections, learn a great deal about scientific research, and land their first jobs in STEM.

#Nepenthes truncata has been an easy indoor species in my conditions. This is a seed grown individual that regularly produces large, colorful pitchers. Still not sure where it’s going to go when it reaches full size! 🙃

What pitcher plants are you all growing?

The GEP Pathways Project was one of my first experiences doing research in STEM.

Every contribution, large or small, helps students take part in genuine research and helps faculty innovate in their teaching. Worth supporting before year’s end.
