The Alberta Party has renamed itself the Progressive Tory Party. Their previous attempts to rename as the Progressive Conservative Party were blocked in the courts by the UCP, which then amended Alberta’s election laws to block any other party from using the word “conservative” in their name.

Ron Schuler, Manitoba PC MLA for Springfield-Ritchot has announced that he will not seek re-election. He has been an MLA since 1999.

The Manitoba PCs now have 3 MLAs who aren't running again.

Bloyce Thompson will become the Premier of PEI and interm PEI PC leader on Friday. He will serve until the PC leadership election in February.

Rob Lantz will be resigning as PEI Premier to run for the PEI PC permanent leadership. He currently serves as the interim leader of the party, and must resign in order to run for the party leadership election, which will be held in February.

Iain Rankin has become the new interim leader of the Nova Scotia Liberals, taking over from Derek Mombourquette.

Rankin previously served as the Premier of NS in 2021 and leader of the Liberals from 2021 to 2022.

A few days later and Better Edmonton city councillor Mike Elliott has announced that he is also leaving the party to sit as an independent.

Founder, leader, and mayoral candidate Tim Cartmell will also be leaving the party.

3 prominent people within Better Edmonton have left the party this week.
Newly elected City Councillor Reed Clarke just announced that he has left the Better Edmonton Party and will sit at council as an Independent Councillor.

Robert Mitchell, the leader of the PEI Liberals has announced that he will run in the Georgetown-Pownal by-election.

He was elected as leader of the party in October, and previously served as an MLA from 2007-2020.
