he/him. I was c_davies on the bird app; an odd little man with a British accent everywhere else. Cat-lover; Michigan-resider; SlashGear writer; car geek; 🌈 I do not 'like' skeets; it's nothing personal it just gives me anxiety.
Just realized I forgot to show you all the free 2026 "Treasured Trucks" calendar that the nice people at Ace Hardware gave me the other day.

Psst. If you woke up feeling positive about yesterday's election results, then remembered things are still terrible and precarious and scary for a whole lot of people right now, donating to a local food bank is a good way to push back on that wave of dismay.

Now we get to see who ignores the "be a genuine, authentic person with tangible beliefs" and "don't throw trans people under the bus" lessons, here, and jumps instead to "make fun videos" because that's easier than legacy Dems changing tired old habits.

Already, six hundred political journalists are in their cars, fanning out to mom & pop diners across the country, to ask people there how terrified they are - on a scale of 1 to 10 - that New York City has a new mayor.

It's almost reassuring, watching 'Dem Strategists' cling desperately to "We dressed old Chuck-E-Cheese robots in blue ties, and loaded them with 3.5-inch floppy discs of 'we must move to the center' talking points."

The same sort of reassurance as feeling your guts gurgle after taking a laxative.

The irony in knowing that - somewhere in the house - you have a new, unopened AirTag, but you can't remember where it is.

I'm no numbers guy, but it sure is fascinating seeing the Big Tech Companies announce their hefty revenues today, shortly after gnashing their teeth and wailing about how redundancies were a sad price to pay because of dwindling revenues.

I don't know if this is a threat or a Zen koan

In an ideal world I'd have the clever words to encourage the strong, capable, intelligent, talented, and ever-promising people around me to not give up hope, but I don't, so I'll just have to hope that they feel the love and support radiating out of me instead.

It's fascinating how quickly your opinion of someone can change drastically.

Shameful that this is so surprising - if not outright shocking - to hear a politician who doesn't simply make vague and easily-deniable comments about trans people needing support, but calls for that support in no uncertain terms.
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

There is an inherent tension on social media, trying to decide when to unfollow people who have lovely pets but also post their own garbage opinions.

Look, kids, if a strange man approaches you and tells you he needs your help to build a Dyson Sphere around the solar system, run home and tell your parents. Do NOT get into that van.

Congratulations, I guess, for sharing your garbage views on the public timeline today?

Please don't accept candy from strangers, though, even if the candy looks real good and they've got a van with puppies in it, and your parents told them to tell you that you were allowed to go play with the puppies.
Just found a hard candy in my pocket. Friday's gonna be okay, people, it's gonna be okay.

There is vanishingly little I can do personally to stop the NYTimes from loving fascists and hating trans people, but they're on my "no clicks" list along with Substack links, and I respectfully suggest that, if you pay for their Wordle games app, you consider cancelling that.

Mindlessly walked into the kitchen instead of the bathroom, so treated my apparent senility to a small piece of cheese while I was there. Wouldn't want to waste the trip.

Eventually they will invent a hard-boiled egg with a touchscreen and then we will have peaked as a species.

I feel like this is good news? But my brain and body are unfamiliar with accepting good news (where is the catch??) so... yay? Is yay premature?

Forgot to show you this picture of a raccoon I took. Good raccoon.

If I'd known I could get massive amounts of government money simply for blowing things up pointlessly but spectacularly, I'd have gone into a different industry.
