he/him. I was c_davies on the bird app; an odd little man with a British accent everywhere else. Cat-lover; Michigan-resider; SlashGear writer; car geek; 🌈 I do not 'like' skeets; it's nothing personal it just gives me anxiety.
Just realized I forgot to show you all the free 2026 "Treasured Trucks" calendar that the nice people at Ace Hardware gave me the other day.

I don't know if this is a threat or a Zen koan

Pippi and I send our love. She says you can stroke her tummy if you like.

Forgot to show you this picture of a raccoon I took. Good raccoon.

We'd wondered what was clearing out the feeders of dried mealworms periodically. Last night, spotted this fellow perched precariously atop the pole. Might be a different - plumper - raccoon, I think, to the last one. Either way, it'll have to explain to the bluebirds where all their snacks went.

Saw this raccoon just now. Thought you might like to see a raccoon too.

Interesting point from a Kickstarter project update, on the impact of tariffs, made-in-Asia parts, and how the reality of building in America means production almost certainly won't return to the U.S., it'll just mean more expensive items overall.

Not now, Horned Owl Decoy!

They are very lumpy! These are from the first "beginner's wheel" class I did (and which I am now retaking because the wheel is really hard 😂)

You're going to think this is a bit, but I can genuinely say that these Brothers Nuts may in fact be too salty

The transition between "take care of your eyes" and "I usually shove a skewer through them and roast them whole" was briefly terrifying, here.

I think you all deserve to see this pileated woodpecker who has been coming to the garden every morning

I am very confused

This is a good, surprising-but-I-wish-it-wasn't read, but this section really made me pause.

So often, we think of "coming out" - whether gender, or sexuality, or whatever - as saying "yes, I'm different." Whereas actually it's more like "I've stopped trying to make myself be different."

My winter resolution is to start more fires.

Thank you, Menards email blast, for this must-have addition to the garden.

I feel like this should be cathartic in some way, but tbh it just feels overdue 🤷‍♂️

This is Pippi, snoozing next to her favorite catnip goldfish toy. Her fur is exceptionally silky, and I think she definitely counts as #SomethingBeautiful.

Sometimes you get an email notification that just makes you stare at your wrist in disbelief for a little while 🍳

They told me y'all didn't deserve to see my lengthy gourd, but I didn't believe them. "These people wanna see the gourd," I said. "They gotta see my gourd."

Coke can for scale. This is not a recipe suggestion.

Look, all I'm going to say is, the fact that he basically designed a not-as-good-bus with a cuck chair is very on-brand

Excited to share my Fall Gourd Display for 2024 with you all, a reveal I know a lot of people have been eagerly anticipating.
