What do witches and babies have to do with the backlash against DEI?
This week’s Invisible Women newsletter is a rather sprawling essay that represents my attempt to answer exactly that question.

If anyone is able to share a copy of the now offline FDA guidance on including underrepresented populations in clinical trials with me I’d be very grateful. Apparently ensuring medications work for women is part of the “woke” agenda now.

What if we've been talking about representation all wrong?
When we talk about gender in leadership, we usually talk about female <under>representation. But what if we should instead be talking about male <over>representation?

What’s the German for “finally finishing an interminable section of your book only to find that new international guidelines (the first in a decade) were released 3 days ago for the condition you’ve been writing about” 🫠

This is an extraordinary piece. If you thought you had an informed opinion on assisted dying, give this a look.
On assisted dying & domestic violence:
- 88% of “mercy” killers are male (& mercy killings are often very violent)
- Men are overwhelmingly the survivors of “failed suicide pacts”
- 76% of palliative care drs oppose change in law on assisted dying

Women are considered “old” much younger than their male counterparts: women are old at 30, whereas men don’t drop into the dreaded “old” category until they’re in their 50s. In this week's newsletter I've written about "women of a certain age"...

So here’s a very cool thing I’ve just been told about!
This is a still from a Chinese film, released in the UK today (US release was yesterday). It’s a feminist buddy comedy called Her Story and there’s a scene where one of the protagonists talks about Invisible Women on a live stream!

obv my first main post on here is about toilets, always be branding. hi everyone...🚽🚾🧻
One of my inordinately strong views is that the lack of public toilets in this country is a disgrace. Not only, as the superbly named Cornelius McAfee explains, is it a public health failure, but it's a missed opportunity to repurpose beautiful, disused buildings & even create some new architecture!
Yesterday saw the launch of a 'London Loo Alliance' to beat the drum for more public toilets.
‘Public toilets are the hallmark of a civilised society,’ said one campaigner. ‘The Romans understood this, but our local authorities don’t seem to.’
