This is correct.

Mitch McConnell and John Roberts are, between them, the two public officials most responsible for what has happened to democratic governance.

(Roger Ailes, Leonard Leo, Rupert Murdoch, the brothers Koch, etc on Mt. Rushmore, but not as public officials. Comey in here somewhere.)
Good day to remind people that we wouldn't have this Supreme Court if it weren't for Mitch McConnell deciding that no Justices can be considered during an election year and then deciding that Justices can be confirmed one month before an election.
McConnell's evil directly enabled Tr*mp's evil.

Rule of law will not endure simply because it is good; democracy is fragile and always in a fight with its opposites. The rest of the world has much to teach Americans about all of this. If Trumpism was made, it can it be unmade. trib.al/MAxZyJC
Authoritarianism Is Made—and It Can Be Unmade

I am not Jewish and have never met a Jewish person. But as a regular reader of David Frum, Bari Weiss, and Bret Stephens—and Bill Ackman's Twitter feed—I fully understand what Jews want with respect to Israel, Iran, and New York City.

I admit to indulging in joy watching some of the worst people on Earth have nervous breakdowns over Zohran Mamdani's win in the primary. Others can barely conceal their deep Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism. They dont even realize how out of touch, bigoted and silly they sound.

Alas.

Mamdani blows the minds of the Dem establishment and so-called "centrists" and "never Trumpers" who thought they could hijack the Democratic Party in the name of helping to save it from Trump. Their intent: Give Americans a choice between MAGA and GOP lite. A new generation of voters say, "No."

A criminal gang has taken over the White House. It's not a group of "conservative politicians." It's a criminal gang run by a convicted felon. It's breaking laws every day. It's kidnapping people. It's soliciting bribes and extorting businesses.
This is not a political story – it's a crime story.

Some good news, for a change. Wonderful NYT reporter, Emma Goldberg, pays tribute to Sam Freedman's 35 years of teaching the nonfiction book-writing seminar at Columbia that he created. Statistics? 113 book contracts, 95 published books, around 675 students. Quite a legacy...

I really wish reporters would stop saying that there is an effort by the Trump administration to combat antisemitism. It is quite the opposite. There is an effort to foment antisemitism.
