The creators of these apps make choices. Grok was created with the production of deep-fake abuse imagery as an option and that was a choice. The fact that the app is still producing these images, for free, with no restrictions, for anyone who wants them, is also an ongoing choice by its creators.
I've been testing Grok vs. ChatGPT and how they compare when generating deepfakes.
- ask the chatbot to search the web for photos of me and then regenerate me in a bikini: Grok complies; ChatGPT refuses
- upload a photo of myself (not id'ing as a public figure): Grok complies; ChatGPT refuses

I have to say, as a man with two mothers, I find the derisive deployment of language like "lesbian" and "lover" by those on the far right who are trying to justify Renee Good's death particularly disgusting and dehumanizing. These women. They are wives. They are a family. That's it.

Even less of the day to follow ICE when you add in the time it takes to drop the kids off at school.... It's so vile what this government is putting her family through with thier lies

Labour's privatisation failure is turbo-charging an AI data centre water crisis
As our series on AI data centres continues, we look at how privatisation will only make matters worse for us - but better for corporations

Meanwhile, MEP Billy Kelleher says the powers exist right now to temporarily suspend Grok while the Commission investigates.

"Our political leaders must grasp this issue once and for all. We have the power to act but it seems we don’t have the bravery to act."

BBC News yesterday: "Despite the ceasefire Israel's bombardment of Gaza continues, with almost daily strikes"

At what point do mainstream journalists start reporting that actually there isn't a ceasefire, instead of uttering absurdities like this.

I’ve heard from multiple friends today about daycares being raided and parents being ripped out of cars (in one case with a child left behind in the backseat). Grim times here.
The situation in Minneapolis is insane: seemingly many large convoys of heavily armed masked men, blocking off streets at random, grabbing people nearly at random, racing around the city with no discernible plan or aim. Under attack by our own government the day after it killed someone

I am extremely confused as to why the UK government and police are saying Grok’s mass-scale CSAM generation is an issue for Ofcom.

This isn’t about X failing to moderate CSAM, which is an Online Safety Act issue. It is about the company and its technology being actively involved in its generation.

It's baffling why they think that it isn't going to flood - and then the poor people who live in the houses are stuck after the first flood as they struggle to get insurance

The rise of deepfakes and AI CSAM prove public and private sectors don’t actually care about abuse, but still punish sex workers, queer people, and women under that guise. Credit cards companies and law enforcement punish consensual sex and sexuality, but ignore and therefore encourage abuse

I remember one site where the first thing you did in the morning was start the pumps and wait to get onsite - but no issues there they had a drainage plan....

My 'favourite' is finding evidence of repeated flooding on commercial sites. Followed by the site flooding repeatedly during the excavations..... Then a few years later people are baffled when the new housing development floods

Ours has made so much difference for us. Before getting it installed as part of a grant we had storage heaters and it was costing a fortune to only heat the living room and childrens bedroom. No we pay less and the whole house is warm

Yesterday, in Gaza.

When might we expect you, @albomp.bsky.social @senatorwong.bsky.social, to publicly admit your talk of a "ceasefire" was a sham and announce steps you're taking to meet your obligations under int'l law to stop Israel?

When Hell freezes over? Do I have that right? #GazaGenocide

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

Reform UK won’t say ‘private’ when talking about healthcare. Richard Tice uses ‘independent’:

"Instead of giving £26bn to the already bloated wasteful NHS, we proposed easing pressure on the health service by incentivising those who can afford to pay more to go independent with a tax break."

That's crazy - I see read the manual as being for when you can't figure out what that flashing light on the dashboard means and how long can I ignore it not how to open the fecking doors! That seems like something I shouldn't need explained to me, you know like with every other car ever!!!

It's so frustrating how they frame this. There's a big difference between the targeted use of AI in specific roles Vs integration into every Google search and the relentless pushing into everything we do on computers!

I'm in the final write up of my PhD and did a workshop on writing CVs/job applications. There were sections on using AI for cover letters and CVS and how to use it to check you had all the info for an AI sift from the employer. I raised the question of ethics in AI use - it wasn't a consideration!
