This cold snap really has me appreciating the wood stove! It's so heartening, to come home after a chilly day at work, and write sitting by a cosy fire!

I hosted a family get-together today - 3 of my 4 children, siblings, nieces and nephews, all with their families. A lovely day full of love, good conversations, and good food.

And now the house is still and quiet again. I plan on sitting by the wood stove and writing. What a lovely life!

After a couple of days full of appointments (and therefore PEOPLE!), there's nothing quite like an early morning walk in the forest to restore my peace of mind. Started off stomping in the dark, ended up strolling in the early morning light. Now I'm ready for whatever the day may bring!

I've had a lovely Saturday so far - lots of writing, and a long walk through the forest. Now about to attend an online workshop on reading for writers with Sarah Burton. Loving this semi-retired life!

It seems Henry Miller had trouble concentrating on one creative project at a time, too!

The rain is bouncing hard on the pavement outside, but I'm dry and warm beside the wood stove. I've got more edits to do on a novel, and an idea for a short story simmering away at the back of my mind. Not sure which I'll work on first, but ... goodbye, BlueSky: it's writing time!

Went to my daughter's cabin this afternoon. We each worked on our own writing sitting on her porch, overlooking a wooded valley. There's something truly magical about creating in company, and in such a peaceful setting!

Yesterday I lit the first log fire of the season, and wrote in cosy peacefulness in its warmth. Today, the sun is warm, my patio dorrs are thrown open, and I'm writing overlooking the garden. Autumn hasn't quite won out yet!

It's too sunny for my laptop outside, so I'm writing just inside, with the patio doors thrown open to my small but bee- and butterfly-filled back garden. I just had to pause to watch a dragonfly darting here and there, so thought I'd come here to say what a perfect way this is to spend an afternoon!

Today eight of us went to help paint the outside of my daughter's house - a tiny wooden cabin by the woods, overlooking a deer-filled valley. When we'd done, we ate together, and then some of us wrote while others sewed or painted. So lucky to live surrounded by other creatives! #AmWriting

He focused on the tidy rows of orange marigolds lining the brick path. If only life could be as orderly as those flowers. But life was messy, unpredictable, and relentless. It would come for you whether you were ready or not. Now it was his family’s turn.

Today I shall write in the garden, headphones on but unconnected, to block out the noise of the builders renovating the house. Thank goodness for a sunny day!

Acquiring wealth for the sake of status will solve nothing. Acquiring wealth to buy a haunted mansion in which you can gather your family to put them through a series of horrifying supernatural trials to see who deserves to inherit your estate, however, will probably fix you

I have very little written for this WIP so this is a treat! Twin Peaks x Foster's Home but make it queer and cryptid.

An unexpected reunion takes place.

I do believe there's a place for telling in writing, but Chekhov does do showing so very well! #WritingCommunity #WritingInspiration

I'm not a fan of forcing myself to write every day. But showing up at my desk at the same time each morning does seem to trigger some sort of Pavlovian response, so I usually end up writing or editing something.
