My perspective on Dick Cheney will always be complicated.
He was kind to a lovely woman who worked for him to whom I was briefly & loosely related by marriage long ago (not mine).

I remember that morning. I was in Laramie. Late for class. Sick, realizing it was real. All of it.
I was on the copy desk the night we got bin Laden. Made my press crew watch the news. I had just axed the A section at 10 p.m.

I've allowed spiders to live in my apartment this summer w/the understanding that they'll control my mosquitoes, gnats, moths, etc.
They've upheld all but the gnats portion.
I can't describe my previous level of arachnophobia — like, waking-nightmare-level.
But the lack of bugs has been nice.

How fortunate we are that the United States is so bereft of serious crimes that we can afford to have FBI agents standing around the Metro all day watching for turnstile-jumpers.
