I've been a subscriber to @vermontgmg.bsky.social Garrett Graff's weekly essay for awhile now. I find his insights to be compelling, as well as his willingness to engage with unusual perspectives. Plus, he's a historian, and the site name didn't hurt.

everyone should be mad as hell and getting madder by the nanosecond, and our politicians/ostensible leaders ought to be leading the charge - yes, at their own personal risk, *that's what we elected them for* and if they don't want to do it, they should move over for someone who *will*

Stop asking angry residents to calm down and start demanding that ICE leave or cease hostile activity. TAKE THE SIDE OF YOUR CONSTITUENTS.
My public safety team is working to gather information on an ICE related shooting this morning.

We will share information as we learn more. In the meantime, I ask folks to remain calm.

Should the opportunity ever arise, I hope that I can slap the next Dem politician who describes what's happening with the United States as "troubling" or "concerning."

Today is a good day to re-read the SECRET EMPIRE event from 2017, if you have the Marvel Comics app. It got middling reviews when it came out, but has more resonance now, unfortunately. These pages from the final issue offer a reminder that too many people in power need:

Quick request: if you've read NAVIGATING THE AGE OF CHAOS, please leave a review somewhere, such as at the place you bought it. We just had a conversation with our publisher, and it turns out that reviews are a big determinant of whether a book gets carried and promoted by the store. Thank you!
