This is, by some distance, the most unforgivably stupidest thing the government is doing. An easily sellable proposal, which would actually help Brits, and unlocks meaningful negotiation. Irrational and anti-growth.

I've been re-reading the LotR. And I think in a way it's a pity the films left out the Scouring of the Shire? Why? Maybe those in the States may find some resonance in it...

This summary entirely chimes with my experience reporting on media use in the UK general election. Lots of people weren’t consuming any news directly yet were still weirdly aware of a lot of the big scandals or allegations. They didn’t even know how the story had reached them, it just sort of… had.
