Climate Action Now…urgently. Gardener. Sailor. Social change. We must do better for all of our children & the natural world. Sydney Aus.

All opinions are my own.

Everyone I know who has sought to understand climate science experiences deep and profound grief.

Grief for all of our children, grief for the natural world.

From that grief comes the knowledge that the next step is real action & societal change.

Correction: This is the 2nd time that mass mortality of corals has occurred in the same summer on both the east and west coasts of Australia.

The 1st time was in 2016.

Australia, as expected, has missed the official but largely symbolic deadline for its 2035 emissions targets. Only one country submitted a target close to 1.5°C goal.

Everyone needs to know that these fires were made possible by global heating, which is caused by the fossil fuel industry, which has lied and blocked action for half a century. And that this will all get much, much, much worse until we end the fossil fuel industry

As Los Angeles battles catastrophic wildfires, experts say there are signs climate change is already reshaping fire seasons around the world.

The insanity of being a fire ecologist in the epicenter of a major fire event, bags packed and ready to evacuate, watching active fire from my window, while taking media requests and explaining to the public, for the 100,000th time how climate change is largely responsible for this

A reminder that Los Angeles had its hottest summer in history last year. Southern California has received just 2% of "normal" rainfall during the current "rainy" season.

These fires are a direct result of a warming & drying atmosphere caused by burning fossil fuels.

We are in a climate emergency.

Australia is the world’s 2nd largest fossil fuel exporter & 5th largest fossil fuel producer.

But it’s not Australians producing and exporting the coal & gas, it’s a handful of mostly foreign corporations.

Australians get few benefits.

Dug up in Australia, burned around the world – exporting fossil fuels…
Our research found Australia’s coal and gas exports were responsible for 1.15 billion tonnes of CO₂ emissions in 2023. An additional 46 million tonnes of CO₂ were emitted domestically in the process…
