For example, Coralie Fargeat did this fantastically in Revenge, where the scene follows another character, Dmitri, watching TV with the event done mostly through sound design. The most you ever see of the actual event is a part of Jen's body through a window with the camera focus on the pool.
Unless the story is ready and willing to delve into the impact of such a thing, DON'T INCLUDE IT. I can't say this enough.
And even if the story *is* able to delve into it, don't film or write it like a scene from a porn video. That's hypocritical to an insane degree. The implication is enough.

So my life is proving... all too interesting in the last 48 hours. I've been given a sucker punch about a family medical issue (might talk about it later), heard something shocking about my current girlfriend, and have apparently won someone else over romantically within a week of knowing them.

I'm so, so tired of my dreams being extremely high-definition in the visual department, especially when the storylines of them are so damn dark. This last one straight-up involved war crimes and witnessing it from some screwed up perspectives.
