This isn't Lucy with the football... it's the guy who offers you a ride home, then drives to a secluded spot and assaults you.

Ain't no way it ends well.

One February night in 1959, something caused a group of skiers to cut their way out of their tent and flee into a howling blizzard, in 20-below-zero temperatures, in bare feet or socks. What was it?

Movies now relentlessly signpost their meaning and intent. “Artists and audiences sometimes defend this legibility as democratic, a way to reach everyone,” Namwali Serpell writes. “It is, in fact, condescending.”
The New Literalism Plaguing Today’s Biggest Movies

I thought Daniel Day-Lewis overplayed the part way too much. It was as if he was trying too hard to act and you were just sitting there thinking, he's not fully in character, but trying so hard to be.

The movie was dull and laborious. I had high expectations, so that was a factor in my displeasure.

A24’s embrace of the specific and the strange has convinced fans that, in an era dominated by formulaic franchises, the studio promises something different. Alex Barasch reports on recent strategy shifts at a company that has been shrouded in mystery.
A24’s Empire of Auteurs
The studio is brilliant at selling small, provocative films. Now it wants to sell blockbusters, too.

NEW: Tesla will recall nearly all the Cybertrucks it has produced to repair a stainless steel trim panel that the carmaker said could become detached from the vehicle while driving.

It’s the eighth recall for the distinctive all-electric pickup, which hit US roads just over two years ago.
Nearly All Cybertrucks Have Been Recalled Because Tesla Used the Wrong Glue
Tesla says it will fix the sticky issue—which could cause panels to detach from trucks while driving—with a new adhesive “not prone to environmental embrittlement.”

First, Riordan tried to pull a “mangled” front right door by sliding his fingers inside the crack, but “nothing budged at all,” he told investigators. He then tried to open the doors by pressing the electronic buttons of the doors, but they were not working.
What an absolute nightmare. A high school student saw his friends crash their Cybertruck and rushed to help, but was only able to rescue one of them because the car's doors would not open from the outside.

He watched his three other friends burn to death.

One of the reasons David Lynch's work meant so much to me is that he promised that no matter how ordinary-seeming the space you occupy, you contain an unmeasurable quantity of weirdness that deserves expression.
I am promising myself that from here on out, I will try to write even weirder.
