As I’ve aged my religious identity has evolved. I now think of myself as a Sedentarian.

I’m thinking of all the restaurants across the country who, during the shutdown, advertised free meals for people threatened with losing their SNAP benefits. We didn’t say enough about that. What a contrast between them and the Orange Felon.

Henderson County, NC (Mark Meadows’ old district) showed up and spoke up this morning. One of my favorite signs of the event.

It seems just yesterday these sunflowers were fresh and new. They're now dried and drooping, but there is still beauty in their aging. I can relate.

Just finished Norman Lear’s memoir, “Even This I Get to Experience.” Much to recommend it. I especially love that his first acknowledgment at the end of the book after his family is Joe “Little Joe” Torrenueva, his barber for over 50 years.

Healthy turnout in conservative Western NC (think Madison Cawthorn) for the No Kings Rally. No one seemed to suspect my sign was a plagiarized Thanksgiving Day greeting card.

Mayor Barbara Volk proclaiming June as Pride Month in Hendersonville, NC today. The Pride Festival has come a long way in our conservative town since the first potluck picnic in 2019. Mayor Volk was there for the first one, and it took great political courage to issue that first proclamation.

I decided to read some banned books. "Gender Queer: A Memoir" by Maia Kobabe, according to the American Library Assoc. is the second most banned book in the nation. It's such a warm and generous gift. I'd like to meet the author, but I'd really like to meet the author's parents.

Just finished Octavia Butler's "The Parable of the Sower." First two-thirds I kept saying, "I can't read this." Glad I stuck with it. A clear-eyed look at the logical end results of current trends if we don't change course and the necessary behaviors that will see us through.
