Henderson County, NC (Mark Meadows’ old district) showed up and spoke up this morning. One of my favorite signs of the event.

It seems just yesterday these sunflowers were fresh and new. They're now dried and drooping, but there is still beauty in their aging. I can relate.

Is there something Kyle Rittenhouse and Dean Cain need to tell us or do they just both subscribe to MAGA GQ?

Healthy turnout in conservative Western NC (think Madison Cawthorn) for the No Kings Rally. No one seemed to suspect my sign was a plagiarized Thanksgiving Day greeting card.

Mayor Barbara Volk proclaiming June as Pride Month in Hendersonville, NC today. The Pride Festival has come a long way in our conservative town since the first potluck picnic in 2019. Mayor Volk was there for the first one, and it took great political courage to issue that first proclamation.

It’s sad no one speaks of Tubman or Wells
as they pass in the Pentagon’s halls

Not King, Rustin, nor Nina Simone,
Ali, Fannie Lou, or Du Bois

No talk of Baldwin, Chisholm, or Parks
sullies that 5-sided site

Founded in 1888, the board of Nat. Geographic Mag. Thought photos would undermine its academic cred. Glad they reversed that, or I may have never learned about sex.

I’m thinking I’ll hang this around my neck. It could conveniently serve as both a warning and an explanation.

It's Carl Sandburg's birthday. Poet, Lincoln scholar, collector of folk songs. In 1945, he and spouse Lillian moved to Connemara, their home in Flat Rock, NC.
A fitting quote for today:
"In these times you have to be an optimist to open your eyes when you awake in the morning." - Carl Sandburg.
