I switched over to StickerApp after Sticker Mule kept aggressively pushing their hot sauce. Then the owner went all in on MAGA and lashing out at customers because of it

Seems things don't change for them, but it's always a good day to take your biz elsewhere
The latest move by Sticker Mule's owner. Please don't give these people your money (or honestly send them your artwork, you never know).

There is a lot of woe in the world, but here is one thing I'm excited about:

nashhigh.itch.io/zinearranger This zine layout tool is a dream I never knew I had. You can upload a pdf of your, e.g., 56-page 1/4-sized zine in page order (1-56), and in seconds get back a 14-page doc you can print from.

Minneapolis is headed towards something resembling a general strike, if you were wondering how the campaign to cow working people into quiescence is going
Last night, The Minneapolis Federation of Educators Local 59 signed on to the call for a Jan 23 shutdown. That brings total labor support to: the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1005, SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, CWA Local 7250, St. Paul Federation of Educators Local 28, and the MFE 59
Unions and community orgs are calling for a Minnesota-wide shutdown in 10 days to protest the ferocious assault by federal immigration agents. They're saying on Jan 23, no work, no school, no shopping. SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, & others are supporting, w/ more to join. By me, Amie Stager

"The only protest allowed is the kind we can really easily ignore."
Republican on CNN: You peacefully protest with a letter to the editor. You peacefully protest by starting a Substack or a podcast.

For comics, I'm good at pacing and story beats and "quiet" moments. For book covers, I'm good at taking an author's vision and creating images based off their descriptions/excerpts. I've gotten feedback along the lines of "that's exactly what I pictured!" more than once.
Artists, I think we're all too comfortable sharing our imposter syndrome.

I would love to see you step out of your comfort zone and confidently state what you think you're actually really good at.

No self deprecation, just what you think you're the strongest at

Is anyone brave eniough? 👀

Disable your location on your smartphones.
ICE has a new tool to use location data from data brokers to identify the movements of protestors. Please remove your phone's Advertising ID and disable always-on location access forapps that sell your data (most of them). Instructions for Android and iOS from the EFF: www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...
How to Disable Ad ID Tracking on iOS and Android, and Why You Should Do It Now

Thumbnail. Work out problems one stage at a time.

Flip your canvas. Use a mirror/flip a photo if traditional.

Sometimes things just take time.

Perfect is the enemy of done.

Don’t apologise for or talk your art down in public.

Repost old art you still like.

Mercilessly trim your portfolio.

Indoctrinating kids by giving them pronouns, witchcraft, probably something about how one of the couples (and one half of em in particular) is irredeemably toxic and awful instead of just having problems they need to work through
if your current project became the Next Big Thing, what would the discourse about it be like?

Hey y'all ACA subsidies are NOT saved, the Senate still needs to vote on the latest version of the bill; just want to note that the House vote happened at 5:13p and the Senate adjourned at 4:29p. The Senate vote I see some people referencing regards a prior bill. Please do call your senator!

I'm 33, and I remember the exact words of a kid in seventh grade who asked me, "So you think GAY PEOPLE deserve RESPECT?"
okay going by the tv show where the teenager coming out as gay has universal support in 1987 I’m starting to think people don’t know just how *recent* any level of societal acceptance was and that being under the age of 35 means you can’t process a time when it wasn’t a settled issue

It's kind of weird how some creators go to such great lengths to defend Gen AI but then say "it's just a tool." If I had a special high tech scissors that was "just a tool" but the company had stolen from all my friends and peers and also cut wrong 20% of the time, I would just use plain scissors.
