Do you like corporate satire, sexy demons, or crow familiars who want to steal your tortilla chips?

I have an ARC of my upcoming book, STARTUP HELL, from @titanbooks.bsky.social. It's signed, with a doodle. And it wants a home (in the US because of the realities of shipping).💙📚

In continuing the theme of "wow my dreams are meta" last night I skimmed some of my dream and so I had to go back and redream it, and then could skip ahead when I hit chunks I remembered.

Last of the holiday bakes - shameless GBBO ripoff. Meringue trees with nutmeg creme patissiere and mixed berry jam, pomegranate decorations.

Random hot take: Mr. Bennett is every bit as frivolous and shallow as his wife, but all his failures are male-coded so we're culturally primed to like him while finding her silly.

Some folks are infuriated by the B2B marleting jargon in this set of subway ads that's impenetrable to most riders. Me? It's the logo. Look at "clay" - extremely basic typeface but every letter is just the tiniest bit off-kilter. Kerning, leading, the y is actually rotated like 3 degrees or so.

Taking advantage of the last days of staycation for a matinee - Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York was hilarious. Since it's basically a two person show that could be done in a balck box, expect to see this forever 😆

155 books in 2025 (although Goodreads thinks it's 153 because a couple ARCs I blurbed aren't up yet).

A random techical question brought on by French toast. If you are a restaurant that serves French toast for weekend brunch (so you don't have challah/brioche on your weekday menu) - what day is your challah delivery?

Aon my way to a party themed "This Shit is Bananas" because wtf 2025, where most of the food involves exotic fruit. What do you think, close enough to meeting the brief?

I'm taking a brief break from trying to iron out the difficulties with the climax of the next book to work on a project that I can't talk about but is So. Much. Fun. I entertain myself far too easily. All I can tell you at the moment is that it involves a cowtopus.

One of my favorite gifts this year - this incredible piece of art by @jodiharveyart.bsky.social. Carved out of a copy of DREADFUL, it has a level of detail that's amazing. Thr garlic suit! The two-headed dragon! Chicken! Tentacles!

People are posting their year in books, and I'm like - the week between Christmas and New Years is my biggest reading week! What do you think I asked for for Christmas? You think all these new books are going to wait for the new year?😆

No literary agent who is going to get you a deal is going to charge you upfront. They make a percentage. That is how it works.

If someone says otherwise or tries to "upsell" you, they are scammers.
Ok, since this has come up four times in the last three days:

REPUTABLE LITERARY AGENTS WILL NOT CHARGE YOU MONEY.

IF A LITERARY AGENT WANTS TO CHARGE YOU FOR AN "EXPEDITED ACCESS PACKAGE" THIS IS A SCAM.

We're making Cornish hens. I've got 6, which came in packs of 2.

The giblet packs are COMPLETELY RANDOM. Each has a different assortment of 2-3 parts, no pattern we could see. If you only got 1 package, total crapshoot on which parts you'd end up with.
