What's it like behind the scenes of narrating your favorite audiobooks, especially when the main character you're voicing...is a spider?!

The audiobook narrator for So I'm a Spider, So What?, @caitlinkellyvo.bsky.social‬ sat down with us to answer that question and more!

I was wondering when Wicked would get an updated #audiobook. Seems it would have been better BEFORE the movie. But before For Good is good enough. Maybe there was a rights issue. 🤷 Either way, I'll be doing another re-listen. playbill.com/article/tony...

Hi, just a reminder that when you use Libro.fm for your audiobooks, you support independent bookshops vs. large corporations that drive them out of business.

We also pay taxes. And so do indie bookshops.

Saw this interview with a long time #Audiobook advocate and fan. Audiobooks are good for EVERYONE! Way to go Ryan Hooey! www.chch.com/morning-live...
Audiobooks give everyone the chance to share a story
There's so much more to audiobooks than something to listen to when you're commuting or out on a walk. For some, like Ryan Hooey, it's the only way to share a story because of his vision.

Please do not do this! If you LIKE a book AND return it, you aren't "sticking it to Amazon." You are taking money from authors and #narrators. If you don't want to pay for #audiobooks, the library is right there! Use Libby! @howtogeek.bsky.social www.howtogeek.com/did-you-know...

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

The problem *is* the context. Anyone can accidentally put their arm up in a weird way but if you spend your days amplifying hate and replatforming white supremacists and your evenings funding far right political parties in Germany, people might start to see that gesture as part of a pattern.

I like this article from @pressreader.bsky.social. It's all reading! You should do it in all forms. Whichever way you like. Sometimes I like to read an e-book and then go back and get the #audiobook. It's a different experience and both are valid and wonderful.

I feel like this is just a cyclical lesson. Platforms on the internet are temporary. We’ve seen it with MySpace, Vine, etc… You have to be able to pivot, but more importantly: Parking your own spot at a .com is probably the most secure thing you can do.
