The best day is a day on the beach with coffee and dogs.
After a massive panic attack this morning, I dragged myself out to the lake for some much needed cold therapy. I used to loathe the cold but lately I've found that the frigid air on my face - and wiggling my fingers in the water - seems to help my mind and body reset.

The economy is apparently finding new and novel ways to expose people to lead.

“When I first saw the lead concentrations, they were so high I thought our instrument was broken,” Salazar said. “That sparked us into looking further into these disposables.”

Who has some favorite tv show recommendations? I have some mindless chores to do around the house. I’ve seen relatively zero in the last two years sooooo I’m pretty sure there has to be a lot I missed, but I don’t know what it is.

A great thread from Emma, drivel-debunker extraordinaire
It blows my mind that there are real people who see a post like this and actually believe the whole “Christmas is being cancelled by Muslims” BS 🙄

Today is National Pupusa Day

Popular worldwide, pupusas are made from corn masa filled with ingredients like cheese, beans & pork, and are often topped with pickled cabbage (curtido) and tomato sauce. They date back to the indigenous Pipil people (El Salvador), who ate them almost 3,000 years ago.

To remove ai results from Google searches, type “-ai” at the end of your query. We shouldn’t have to do this every time, but it works and is SO NICE to not get the “artificial ignorance” results.

There are 2 other tips in here, but I haven’t tried them yet.

This came up as a sidequest while we were discussing the whole "companies rounding cash prices UP because of pennies disappearing". No one in the discussion had ever thought about, or knew why, gas prices in the US end in 9/10s. auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-efficie...
Why Is 9/10 Added to Gas Prices?
The practice of tacking 9/10 of a cent on the end of a gas price goes back to a decades-old tax imposed by state and federal governments. It was supposed to expire but never did.

I have enough pennies in the jar to finish out my life so you can stuff "rounding up", ya greedy bastards. (At least until they just stop taking cash payments...period.)
When Canada stopped making pennies, it offered guidance on the transition. Trump’s Treasury Department, however, has left the market to sort itself, the CEO of the Utah Bankers Association said.

“It’s kind of rippling through the entire economy.”
Penny pinching: Here’s what Utah shoppers think of stores rounding change to the nearest nickel
Utah shoppers are being given rounded change from cash purchases, because of a shortage of pennies brought on by an order from President Donald Trump to stop making cents.
