I write things that explain other things for USA TODAY NETWORK Florida. I also take pictures, mostly for me. My opinions are my own and I only agree with about half of them. He/him.

New followers, hi! I’m a trending writer for the USA TODAY NETWORK in Florida, which means I try to explain what’s going on, from hurricanes to politics to pop culture to health threats. Sometimes it helps.

I’m also a photographer for local performers, a dog dad, and a thrifter on weekends.
We saw cows.

And goats and rabbits. The Feral Ranch in Lake Helen is open for animal-petting and feeding Saturdays and Sundays, 9-5. Fluffy cows!

Today’s thrift store find: “Clairdelune” by Michael West, 1913. Gorgeous illustrated collection of troubadour stories with drawings, tipped in plates, multiple inks (including metallic), music sheets and more.

Prices online range from $75-$500 depending on condition. My price: $1.99.

I love seeing all the pictures of people’s Christmases with piles of toys and clothes and books and paper and boxes just filling their living rooms with food and drinks everywhere and dogs running around.

On this one day, everyone’s house looks like ours does all the time.

Teres spent hours sewing dog treats into little cloth pouches and then putting them in different areas inside a large stuffed animal.

Our dog has never been happier.

Die Hard: I’m a Christmas movie!

Trading Places: I’ve got a drunk guy in a Santa suit!

The Long Kiss Goodnight: Oh please, I’ve got Christmas all through it and we show the importance of family.

Lion in Winter: Oh, you are all most painfully adorable.

I’m not doing MusicAdvent this year but I can list which 10-second clips of songs, incidental music and ad jingles get stuck in my head over and over for hours

Right now it’s the musical sting at the end of Josh Johnson videos. An hour ago it was “Take It to the Limit,” a song I don’t like.

I’ll make my own irrational decisions, thank you.

Although any AI shopper trained on my habits would just sling back and forth adding and removing things to the cart and then just leaving.

I came very close to a legendary level of stupidity.

Ordered a pair of jeans. Tried em on, started to transfer stuff, realized they were too long. Online app let me quickly exchange em, just package em up and drop em at UPS. Easy!

Started to leave. Missing my wallet.

This never happens.

Most memorable moviegoing experiences:

• Avengers Endgame opening night, the Mjolnir scene and the portals scene.
• Spider-Man No Way Home, most of it
• Seeing Empire Strikes Back in a theater packed with most of my graduating class who all skipped 6th period for the opening matinee
Most memorable moviegoing experiences:

• front row center, first show, opening day, STAR WARS, with Scott McCloud. I will never forget that long, long opening shot of the Imperial ship.

• COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER, in Paris, in English with French subtitles. The contrast between the two was very...
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

Dammit. John Varley died.

The worst of his work was still challenging. The best was some of my favorite science fiction anywhere.

I love the Red Thunder series, and the Wizard series, and the 9 Worlds stories.

Steel Beach and Golden Globe are gloriously messy, hilarious epics.

Thanks, man.
