In 2024, Tierra Walker was sick and getting sicker. She was also pregnant.

She knew abortion was illegal in Texas, but thought there was an exception for women like her, whose health was at risk. Doctors told her there was no emergency.

Then she died.

I've seen two administration officials state that "as long as other countries don't retaliate" everything will be resolved easily. Putin made the same proposal when he attacked Ukraine. When YOU attack, YOU start a war. Not when they defend themselves.

Is the daily flood of destruction from Washington too much?

We have to keep fighting it, but this book is a good break to help you remember WHY you want to fight for people. _Nation_, by Terry Pratchett. There's death and pain, but there's also strength and love.

The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran. No one should ever hire these men again.

I hadn’t thought of that… that was a fun story before it came true. I really enjoyed Abraham Lincoln as a peripatetic communist activist speaker.
There's a very interesting SF novel by Harry Turtledove, Guns of the South, about white 20th century South Africans time-traveling to Civil War America to help out "guess which side" with weapons & tech. No idea what's made me think of that.

I really like the unspoken implication in #LOTR #TheTwoTowers when Treebeard says “Some of these trees were my friends!”

Oh? Yeah? Which ones weren’t, bud?

Is he like “Well certainly not old Mossyrock. That guy was a real dick. Always talking a load of crap. HAAAARUMM. Yes. Fuck old Mossyrock.”

I have two gut check questions that I ask myself while reporting: How do I know something is true? and What if I’m wrong?

I feel like we’re about to see the consequences of people in power being wrong about vaccines.
