"There is an extreme amount of AI artwork used within the base version of the game, despite the fact that last year’s Black Ops 6 made over $1 billion in its first 10 days on sale—the highest-grossing CoD game ever."

Too bad I don't play CoD, I can't boycott it 🤣

Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips.

If you're anti-AI you should not be playing Arc Raiders!
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

Just so you know, the space battle lay out might have been naturally extrapolated from the pure physics of the situation without any intended subtext, but if your response is "It's hard sci-fi" that will actually make things worse.

This is pretty significant and that it’s been 11 years since they tried to build on Maunakea and Kanaka Maoli protectors have successfully impeded them is a major victory for traditional knowledge keepers and people fighting for Kanaka sovereignty. 🔭🧪

It is conceivable that an object seen entering our solar system could be an alien artifact. But Dr. Loeb’s overt eagerness to interpret all ambiguous or slightly unusual data as promising signs of alien invasion… (3/7)

Happy birthday, @pbs, and thank you for (just off the top of my head) Mister Rogers, Bob Ross, Sesame Street, Cosmos, Reading Rainbow, Nova, Frontline, The American Experience, The Magic School Bus, and Nature.

The good you put into this world, and the return on my investment, is astronomical.
