One of the cast of Fair City was a regular in Rathfarnham Xtra-Vision when I worked there circa 2004-2005.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

I’ve seen several people from the animal rescue world eulogising her animal welfare stance without mentioning the racism, unfortunately somewhat common within that crowd

It is so unbelievably cheap to run an EV that the idea of switching back to a combustion engine is ludicrous.
In 8 years as an EV driver I have never, ever encountered a single instance of this “I switched back to diesel” yet here it is, being flagged as a “Story of the Year” for 2025.

Gives some idea of the mountain to be climbed in terms of overturning persistent myths & misconceptions.

I second this.

Am on donation number 12.
Gave blood this morning. 50 minutes from walking into the hall to sitting back in the car. If you can give blood do, its straightforward and there is always a demand for it. #speirgorm

Ok, so these are some wonderful photos.
The documentary photography of working-class people that gets published tends to show people looking pitiable and/or threatening.

We try to challenge that a bit, and Carmina Ripollés is one of the photographers who helps us. Here's her fabulous festive portfolio:

When We’re Smiling
Do photographs of working-class people have to be sombre, serious and vaguely threatening? Not if Carmina Ripollès is taking the pictures, they don’t. Here’s her show of smiles from the past year to c...

Idiotic decisions by the Indo all the way down here

1. Commissioning a poll on if the general population think antisemitism is a problem

2. Inviting this absolute narcissist in particular to comment

3. Leaving comments open on x dot com the hitler app

This is all so bleak and helps nobody

As a guy from a rural, working-class background, the below is very accurate:

As we head towards 2026 I feel a rewatch of The Death of Stalin is appropriate.

Who knows, maybe a current world leader will also die while soaked in their own piss.

Quick reminder that Santa is buried 20 mins from where I grew up in rural Ireland.

How did the saint who inspired Santa Claus end up in Co Kilkenny?
The remains of St Nicholas are said to be in the grounds of a ruined chuch in Co Kilkenny thanks to some medieval adventurers

I photographed my first gig on Sunday: A small jazz gig in a local speakeasy.

The lighting was awful, especially with a M43 camera, but it was fun!

I am going brush up on my Irish in spite of the state of some of the Gaeilgeoirí on here.

Between this and TikTok I’ve realised I actually know a lot more than I realised.

It's partly because a lot of Dubs seem to think modern Ireland only extends as far west as Arklow.

He plays into perceptions of what a certain class of people think rural Ireland is and not what it actually is: Complicated but traditionally underfunded and misunderstood.
How does millionaire dynasty politician Micheal Healy rae still get away with his ridiculous thatch roof rural drag performance?

Moiselle never saw a dead Jew she didn't love.

And that's because she uses every murder as a foundation for expanding her own profile.

She's a ghoul of the highest order.

So Moiselle, who is vehemently against any kind of sanctions on Israel or international accountability, thinks this pressure needs to be placed on Ireland instead.

Remember, Moiselle isn’t Jewish and was educated in an Opus Dei school.
