Retired biz guy. Knew DJT could become our Peron in 2015, left RP when he locked up nomination.
An important column, but I think it grossly understates the manipulation of law to stay in power and hence the overall descent into autocracy.

I was in Milan last week. We’re I there this week, I’d have joined in the booing.
Vice President JD Vance gets roundly booed at the opening ceremony of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics. "Those are a lot of boos for him, whistling jeering," says the presenter. US athletes receive a warm welcome from fans, though.

NFW. Bezos earns far more brownie points with DJT by destroying the WaPo. And he’s got far more at stake in his other holdings.
If Jeff Bezos had any strength of character he would pay someone to take the newspaper he's destroyed off his hands and contribute money to a trust to restore it.

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.

Democracy dies in oligarchy.

Such a ferocious, dangerous dog! That pooch must have been all of 8 lbs. with fangs that could shred, er, tissue.
Evil.
US Marshals, acting on behalf of the DOJ in Memphis, TN, kicked a dog during an arrest, leaving it with a broken rib.

They didn't tell me the judge had already ordered my release and return to Minnesota.’

As I wrote earlier today, waiting for Maduro to say that Venezuela conspired with Obama to swing the 2016 and 2020 elections. Followed by Maduro and his wife being transferred to the same cushy prison occupied by Ghislaine Maxwell.
I doubt it’s a coincidence that Tulsi Gabbard was at the Georgia election office raid and Maduro is in custody. Her presence signals they could fabricate a foreign election interference claim. But not against Russia, of course.

I grew up with the Washington Post, wrote editorials for the Washington Post and published a column there for more than 15 years. To watch its owners destroy it, seemingly deliberately, in just a year and a half is devastating.

I first came across the word "megalomania" as a kid when I read William Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. It's essentially a synonym for narcissistic sociopathy or malignant narcissism. All three terms accurately describe Trump.

The good news is, as @ruthbenghiat.bsky.social points out, megalomaniacal leaders ultimately blow themselves up politically or militarily. The bad news is that the longer they survive, the bigger the figurative blast radius.

So it's a race against time: How quickly does the megalomaniac lose strength versus how quickly he destroy everything around him. The one thing you can depend on is that the megalomaniac gets more destructive and dangerous over time before he's done.

These are, again, not law enforcement. They are armed, masked thugs. Approaching her with guns drawn, we’ve already seen they will kill people at the slightest provocation, or no provocation at all. This woman was very fortunate.
This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

This is correct. And note, WSJ, NYT, WaPo and the major networks simply ignore what is batshit crazy, thinking you don't need to know about it.
