Yes. But to put it another way…
Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

Literally none of the economic issues we face are due to undocumented immigrants.

Meanwhile, this is verbatim Nazi propaganda being pushed out by the US Dept of Homeland Security.

The Trump regime is a fully fascist regime. They're not attempting to hide it in any capacity. This is who they are.

There are not enough or sufficient diminutives in the English language to express the degree of my surprise to this news.
Nevada regulators have accused Elon Musk’s Boring Co. of nearly 800 environmental violations in the last two years as it digs a sprawling tunnel network beneath Las Vegas for its Tesla-powered “people mover.”

Elon Musk’s Boring Co. Accused of Nearly 800 Environmental Violations on Las Vegas Project
Nevada could’ve fined the company more than $3 million, but regulators are seeking a reduced penalty of $242,800, citing an “extraordinary number of violations.”

Anyone who’s shocked by the fate of the East Wing must be unfamiliar with the fate of New York’s Bonwit Teller building and how Trump Tower got built. Destroying historical buildings and ignoring the preservation law is literally the oldest play in this guy’s book.

So I have things in common with mosquitos, after all.
Beer drinkers were 44% more attractive to mosquitoes than people who had abstained for at least 12 hours, cannabis users were 35% more attractive, and those who had slept with someone else the night before were 46% more attractive, new research finds. https://scim.ag/3Vk5rMw
Does drinking beer make you more attractive to mosquitoes?
Experiments performed at a large music festival suggest the bloodsuckers are more attracted to hedonistic attendees

My answer to the @MuckRack Daily trivia question: Holmdel, NJ; it's a former Bell Labs facility, where there were major advances in solid-state transistor technology, and where Arno Penzias and team more or less confirmed the existence of the Big Bang.

So I invented a new word: “plagiarism”. It means “the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own.”

This is also true of writing for a more general readership
The key to good legal writing is clarity. Exceptional clarity persuades. Unclarity sows doubt.

Not key? Originality. Humor. Cleverness. A distinctive voice. Torrents of peripheral legal authority. Demonstrations of opposing counsel’s stupidity and bad faith.

Edit for clarity.

A neat sentence in the WSJ review of the new Smurfs movie. Byline Kyle Smith:

"When I first encountered them on Saturday-morning television as a kid, the Smurfs cartoons struck me as inane, inert and innocuous, and the passage of 40-plus years has not made them seem any more ane, ert, or nocuous."
