The BBC is ours. It's ours to love. Ours to criticise. Ours to shout at when we feel in the mood.

And if Farage thinks that the way to win favour with voters is to stand around cheering as Trump takes down the BBC for $1 billion of personal enrichment then he's a bigger fool than anyone thought.

Last night the Govt rejected all Lord’s amendments which were set to water down the Employment Rights Bill.

Unions have welcomed that Labour "stood firm" as MPs rejected all of the Lords’ opposition amendments, which would have (among other things) kept most zero-hours contracts. Back to the Lords.

Starmer has just issued a statement about the events yesterday, not a knee jerk response but a considered response as it should be from the PM who has to speak for everyone not just his supporters.

Proof, if it were needed, that Farage has no interest in better outcomes for UK. Instead, he wants to find external means of support for his ethnonationalist agenda.
Politico: "The Sun has seen evidence to [a US] committee submitted by Nigel Farage in which he suggests the White House should use “diplomacy and trade” in the free speech battle, which sounds like calling for Britain to be bullied into a law change."

Is Farage calling for sanctions AGAINST the UK?

As we've seen repeatedly in recent years, and at huge cost to the nation, Brits can easily be persuaded to vote against their best interests, especially if it means that some foreign looking people will be hurt.

We should resist a referendum on the ECHR at all costs.
bsky.app/profile/luke...
Public opinion on the ECHR is fairly inchoate and figures would change in a campaign/depending on framing. But support for remaining in the convention has tended to be around 50%. Support for leaving around 30%. When we asked in July there was an uptick in support for reamining.
